Maya Indea Jama is a British television presenter and radio DJ, born on 14 August 1994. She has been a panel regular on ITV’s The Masked Singer since 2025, replacing Rita Ora.
๐ค Early Life and Family
Jama was born and raised in Bristol, attending Cotham School. She is of Somali descent on her father’s side, while her mother is of Scottish and Swedish descent.
Her mother, Sadie Li Hadden, was 19 when she gave birth and named her after Maya Angelou. Jama’s father was in prison for most of her childhood for violence-related crimes.
๐บ Television Career
Jama co-presented Trending Live! on 4Music from 2015 to 2017 and Cannonball on ITV in 2017. She co-presented the first series of The Circle with Alice Levine on Channel 4.
In 2023, Jama took over as host of ITV2’s Love Island. In March 2024, she hosted the BRIT Awards alongside Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo.
๐ง Radio and Podcast Work
Jama hosted #DriveWithMaya on Rinse FM from 2014 to 2017. She presented Radio 1’s Greatest Hits and her own show Maya Jama on BBC Radio 1 from 2018 to 2020.
From September 2017, she hosted the podcast When Life Gives You Melons, interviewing all-female guests. The BBC confirmed on 15 May 2020 that Jama had left Radio 1 after two years.

Jama launched a clothing collection with PrettyLittleThing in June 2018, followed by a second collection in February 2019. She is an ambassador for Adidas and the American hair care brand Aussie.
In December 2020, she launched her own face and eye masks range, MIJ Masks, which sold out within 24 hours. In November 2024, it was announced she is set to manage a team in the Baller League UK.

Jama was in a relationship with British rapper Stormzy from January 2015 to August 2019. In August 2023, she reunited with Stormzy, but on 17 July 2024, the couple announced they had separated again.
In March 2025, Gary Lineker mentioned in an online video that Jama was dating Portuguese professional footballer Rรบben Dias. Jama lives in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and supports Bristol Rovers and West Ham United.
