Luis Enrique Martรญnez Garcรญa, born 8 May 1970, is a Spanish football manager and former player. He is currently the head coach of Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.

โšฝ Playing Career

A versatile player with good technique, he was capable of playing in several positions, usually as a midfielder or forward. He represented both Real Madrid and Barcelona, appearing in more than 500 official games and scoring more than 100 goals.

He appeared with the Spain national team in three World Cups and one European Championship. He scored 12 goals while earning 62 caps for Spain.

He began his career with local Sporting de Gijรณn. He then spent five seasons with Real Madrid before moving to Barcelona on a free transfer in 1996.

He stayed eight years at Barcelona, eventually becoming team captain. He retired on 10 August 2004 at the age of 34.

Luis Enrique started working as a manager in 2008 with Barcelona B. He moved to Roma in 2011 and managed Celta in the 2013โ€“14 season.

He returned to Barcelona and won the treble in his first year and the double in the second. In July 2023, he joined Paris Saint-Germain, claiming three trophies in his first season and four in his second.

In 2018, he was appointed Spain head coach for the first time before resigning for family reasons in 2019. He reassumed the position the same year and led the team to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and second place in the 2020โ€“21 Nations League.
